Seesmic Separation

So today I went to Seesmic for the first time since about January or February of 2009 and saw that the only thing there was their Twitter interface. I remember the last time I used it, it was all video and remember rumblings of "Seesmic Desktop". Needless to say I was in shock. I started thinking it was odd that they would abandon video since that is what they started off as.

Then later this afternoon I started tinkering around and found that their video service was still around, but was now under seesmic.tv. Either way this is all odd to me. When did this separation happen? Why not just have it all be the same site? Or why not name your twitter client something else? There may be people out there that are confused like me. Ok, so probably not. It is really my fault for not using the site and therefor not noticing the changes. I hope this hasn't happened to any other sites I forget to go to.

Tweet your Photos with Tweetphoto.com

That are many ways to post pictures on twitter. You can use Flickr, Brightkite, Twitpic and many more. Even imageshack.com is getting in on the game. But recently I came across a brand new image posting service for twitter.

Tweetphoto.com is like twitpic but prettier! Yes, I said it, Tweetphoto is pretty. The UI has a beautiful look and feel to it. It is also super easy to use. Like twitpic you sign in with your twitter username and you are given a unique email address to send your pictures too while on the go, and of course you can upload directly from the site. Tweetphoto also allows you to tag your photos from the website before you upload.

I guess the biggest question would be do I see it being around for a while? I guess that really depends. We have seen social networks come and go, and some that should be gone. As long as Tweetphoto has a user base, I think it will continue to go on. The best thing to that could happen to them is to be adopted by the users, or for Twitter to endorse them as their primary photo client. But I don't see Twitter doing that.

But give the service a try and see how you like it. It will most likely replace twitpic for me.

Keep in the loop with Ping.fm

If you are not familiar with Ping.fm and you use social networking tools like Twitter, Plurk, Facebook and many more, Then you have been living under a rock! Ping.fm acts as a hub for your one stop shop for updates and then directs your updates to your social networking sites.

Obviously, if you follow me any where online you will notice that all my updates every where are the same, and this is because of the wonderful tool that is Ping.fm.

Ping supports many of the popular and not so popular sites. Among the sites that they will crosspost to are: Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Brightkite, Plurk, Rejaw, Utterli, Kwippy and many more. Ping is also always adding support for new sites and adding features to their existing sites.

Besides your updates, you can also post photos, These photos will show up on your social networking sites with a ping.fm link to your ping media library. The exceptions are Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, and Brightkite. Other sites may also be supported, but I can't guarantee that. Myspace photo posting was just recently announced.

A couple features that I would love to see would be posting photos to twitter via Twitpic. Also being able to post photo's via their webapp. I think just these two things would make the Ping.fm experience complete.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to Ping.fm and sign up today! It's free!

Tweetie? Not so much.

I have written about Tweetie before. Mostly I griped about people using it because of Kevin Rose. My thoughts are still the same that a majority of people are using Tweetie because Kevin Rose uses it. These are the same people that if Kevin said is dick tasted like Chocolate that they would be in line to suck his COCK! Ok, maybe that was a little harsh, But he does have a huge influence on people and many people listen to him. But lets get back on track.

A few days ago I finally decided to give Tweetie a try on the iPhone. I figured "What the hell? It's only a couple of bucks". And to be honest I was quite surprised at how well it is designed. I still don't know if I love it or not, But it is a pretty decent iPhone Twitter client.

Well after the experience of their iPhone app, I figured why not give their mac desktop client a go. So I downloaded it to give it a try, decided not to pay for it just yet. I launched the Tweetie application and.....It sucks! Yes, I said it all you tweetie lovers. Their iPhone app is good, but their desktop client makes me want to put my cock in a blender! Sure, it offers multiple account logins, but it is so poorly designed that to me it is un-usable. I am a tweetdeck user and like to have groups. I like to put tweetdeck in it's own space on my mac and let it do its own thing. The Tweetie Desktop client looks like they just ported over the iPhone app.

So with this, I am done using the desktop client for my main account. I may keep it going for my two other accounts that I rarely use, But I don't see much use of it for my main twitter account. Just un-usable.

Evernote + Twitter = Love

As you know if you have been reading my blog for a while or follow me any where, I love Evernote! I also love Twitter. Well today Evernote and Twitter have gotten married! Well not really married, because that would just be weird. But now you can tweet directly to your evernote account! Yes that is right. Just follow @Myen and you will be sent a link to setup your evernote account to work with twitter. Then any time you want to send a tweet and have it saved to evernote just add @Myen any where in the note and it goes to your Evernote account! How awesome is that. You can also Direct Message Myen and it will go privately to your account. So if you are on the run and remember you need something you can use SMS for twitter with the command D myen and have that not go to Evernote! Amazing. You can also do this with Twitpic. Another reason to use both Evernote and Twitter.

Remember Twitter and Evernote are both free. I use evernote all the time, so if you are looking for idea's on how to make evernote part of your daily life or trying to find uses for it, Let me know. I use it several times a day, and probably more now because of this.
