3D HDTV? No Thanks!

One of the biggest products at this years CES was 3D HDTV technology. For some reason, people find 3D appealing. In order to take advantage of 3D though, you need to spend money. For starters, you will need a 3D capable HDTV, thats not going to be cheap. If you want to watch 3D blu-ray movies you will not only need the new TV, but a new 3D capable Blu-ray player along with HDMI 1.4 cables. I am sorry, but this does not seem cost effective to me. Oh, and did I mention you have to wear stupid glasses while watching the 3D content? Well, you do.

Sadly, ESPN is jumping on to the bandwagon and promises 3D broadcasts this year! If every traditional content provider decides to go the 3D way for TV, then I will be saying goodbye to my TV habits. I barely have TV habits at this point any way. I watch mostly DVD, Blu-ray, Stream web content to my apple TV, and watch movies from iTunes on my HDTV. So if 3D is the way to go, then count me out!

The Suck that is Time Warner Cable!

It is kind of funny. I never in my life thought that cable would be worse than Dish Network or Direct TV, But with Time Warner Cable it is. Since we first got TWC it has been very touch and go. The first issue was they refused to run CAT 5 cable to our router. When they did offer, they said it would be an additional $500 to do it. So I had to do it. Surprisingly it only cost me $20.

At the time we got TWC my parents opted in for a package deal with cable, roadrunner, Home Phone and Sprint phones. TWC forgot nearly the entire time to pay for the cell phones causing my parents cells to be turned off all the time. They also forgot to cancel our southwestern bell contract for phone service like they were supposed to. So we got double charged for phone service. To top every thing off, we have had issues getting some of our channels. Well ok, we do get the channels, they just look like crap. But what happens when we call about it? The first time we called they came out and looked at every thing and replaced one cable. Not a main cable though, The cable in my room. The next time we complained they said all the cable needed to be replaced, but we had to do it. Awesome job guys! This still did not fix the channels that were fuzzy. So two years later we are complaining again. Now it is out TV's fault. We have three brand new HDTV's in this house that get the same fuzz on all channels, But it is our TV's that are the problem.

Time Warner Cable, Learn to do your job. Your customer service is about as bad as Sprints. But I guess you all don't care if people terminate their service with you. My mother and I discussed tonight dropping cable all together since we watch a majority of our shows on Hulu, Joost and download them off of iTunes. We don't need a land line for our phone because we don't use it. And we might even switch to comcast for internet. At comcast we can pay less for internet and get faster speeds than what we get with Roadrunner. Time Warner Cable is a joke at this point. It is ridiculous.
